NDTG's AGM took place on Friday 16th February

More than 60 people attended the NDTG’s AGM on Friday 16th February, at the Montague on the Gardens, London.

Martin Wilson, Chairman of the NDTG reported on his first year as Chair and progress of the group to date including its 2 new members of staff and delivery of 1,100 courses over the past 12 months – an increase of 10% on 2016. Mr Wilson also reported on NDTG’s status as an Approved Training Organisation by CITB.

Lesley Ransome, Group Manager gave an overview on what the NDTG has achieved in 2017 and its plans for 2018 including the current ‘Don’t Stop at Red’ campaign, encouraging red CCDO card holders to achieve their NVQ within 3 years.

Howard Button and Martin Morrell made a short presentation on the CCDO card scheme and shared its successes with the audience, along with the possible implementation of the CCDO +Plant card. An update was given on the implementation of the new CCDO virtual card during July 2017.

Stuart Accleton, from Erith updated the meeting with the latest developments to the Trailblazer scheme. At the end of the meeting it was confirmed that the standard had been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships meaning that development can progress to the development of the assessment plan.

CITB’s Amy Denver gave a very interesting presentation on the new CITB grant scheme which will begin on 1st April prompting questions from the audience.

Nick Ratcliff, (Skills Manager) Build UK clarified that Training Standards currently on their web site were in the process of being changed to reflect changes being implemented by CITB.  

In Any Other Business, the meeting was reminded that the NFDC’s AGM takes place on 23rd March, this year at the Rosewood, London. Luncheon places are still available, but they are selling fast, so please book quickly. This year we also have a brand new award, sponsored by CHAS entitled the ‘CHAS Health & Safety Award’. Finally, Chris Ivey from THSP gave a very interesting presentation on Mental Health Awareness Training, and the impact of mental health in the workplace.
